Keyword Density Analyzer

Enter the URL of the web page for which you want to analyze keywords.

Keyword Density Analyzer is a free online tool designed to calculate the density of keywords on a page and analyze how these keywords are used, with separate breakdowns for the title and the meta description tags.

It's also a great tool for spying on your competitors' keywords and can be used to find keywords that a website is targeting.

You can view plain text, a word cloud, top keywords by density and score, and most used phrases.

Additionally, it calculates the text size, the number of words (total and unique), and the text-to-code ratio.

What Can It Be Used For?

Keyword Density Analyzer can be useful in several ways.

For instance, keyword density can help you to ensure that you're including the target keywords in your content without overusing them and risking keyword stuffing.

This tool shows warnings for words with a density greater than 3%.

It can also help identify underutilized keywords.

Keyword Density Analyzer also shows top keywords by score, which is based not only on the frequencies of the words but also on the context where they are used. That can help you to discover the most relevant keywords on a page.

In addition, it can be used to analyze competitors. By understanding the keyword density and usage patterns of top-performing pages, you can improve your content to compete effectively in search engine rankings.

What Is Keyword Density?

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword appears in the text compared to its total number of words.

That means that the more frequently a word appears on a page, the higher density it has.

A higher keyword density may help a page rank higher in search engine results for that specific keyword, but it's important to note that keyword stuffing can harm its ranking.

What Is an Ideal Keyword Density?

There is no exact number. Ideal keyword density differs from page to page and even from keyword to keyword (some keywords are more rare than others).

Matt Cutts in the video "What is the ideal keyword density of a page?":

It's going to vary. It's going to vary by area, it's going to vary based on what other sites are ranking it. It's not a hard and fast rule, and anyone who tells you there is a hard and fast rule you might be careful because they might be selling you keyword density software or something along those lines.

If we talk about average values:

Does Keyword Density Still Matter in 2025?

Keyword density used to be a crucial factor in search engine optimization in the past. According to John Mueller, a Search Advocate at Google, keyword density is no longer a ranking factor. Instead, search engines now focus on the overall quality and relevance of the content, including factors like backlinks, user engagement, and mobile responsiveness.

However, there are other points of view as well. For example, Ted Kubaitis, the founder of SEO Tool Lab, conducted a study and found that keyword density still affects search engine positions. A study by Authority Hacker also found that keyword density correlates with higher ranks.

You Calculate the Density for the Meta Keywords Tag, Too. Is It a Ranking Factor?

The meta keywords tag is not used for ranking in the major search engines:

However, it can be used by other search engines (e.g., Yandex).

It can also be used as a spam indicator: if the keywords listed in the meta keywords are not found on the page, they may be considered spam.

What Languages Are Supported?

Our tool can process text in any language, but it is better at taking into account word forms in English, French, German, Polish, Russian, and Spanish.

If the language of the page is not specified, we detect it automatically.

Also, the language of the page affects what stop words we use to exclude common words from the analysis.
