Envoy is a high-performance, open-source edge and service proxy designed for cloud-native applications and large microservice "service mesh" architectures.
It provides advanced L4/L7 load balancing, HTTP/2 and gRPC proxying, service discovery integration, observability with distributed tracing and rich metrics, and dynamic configuration via xDS APIs.
Google Front End (GFE) is Google's globally distributed reverse proxy that accepts client connections at the network edge and routes requests to Google services.
It provides TLS termination, request routing, load balancing, and protection against denial-of-service attacks, and is available only as the underlying infrastructure for 
Google Cloud Load Balancing and other Google services.
