About

Google Front End (GFE) is Google's globally distributed reverse proxy that accepts client connections at the network edge and routes requests to Google services.

It provides TLS termination, request routing, load balancing, and protection against denial-of-service attacks, and is available only as the underlying infrastructure for Google Cloud Load Balancing and other Google services.

HAProxy is an open-source load balancer and reverse proxy for TCP and HTTP-based applications.

It provides multiple load-balancing algorithms, TLS/SSL termination and certificate management, Lua scripting, a runtime API, hitless reloads, and built-in metrics for Prometheus.
