Apache Traffic Server is an open-source high-performance HTTP caching proxy server that serves cached content at the network edge to reduce origin load and improve response times.

It provides an event-driven core with asynchronous native DNS for high concurrency, and supports custom plugins written in C/C++ or Lua for modifying headers, inspecting caches, handling Edge Side Includes, and implementing custom caching algorithms.

Google Front End (GFE) is Google's globally distributed reverse proxy that accepts client connections at the network edge and routes requests to Google services.

It provides TLS termination, request routing, load balancing, and protection against denial-of-service attacks, and is available only as the underlying infrastructure for Google Cloud Load Balancing and other Google services.
